Well, we finished our Fall events, took a deep breath, and reflected upon the last five months. We are really pleased how everything went this year, and we are especially intrigued with our ODM results. First, the National Camp and the Jamborees were superb events attended by more college coaches than any year previous. We had 275+ coaches show up for the four events, and with the exception of 4 programs, as far as we can tell, every Pac-12, SEC, Big 12, Big 10, Mountain West, Big West, and ACC program showed up at least once! That is quite an achievement and is a tremendous credit to all those young players who participated. Needless to say, we are thankful for your belief in all that we do here with OnDeck Softball.
We are thrilled with our ODM results from this Fall. We now have just over 300 players inputted in our data base, and our statistician will now begin the arduous task of evaluating the times and velocities. By next Spring, we are anticipating having an ODM Rating that we can give each player that places them nationally in these tests of speed, agility, bat speed, and overhand throw velocity. Also, we will begin tracking players over the course of their prep careers and see the improvement that comes with skill development, increased strength, and simple maturation. That will be exciting in the years to come.
We will next be making our way to SoCal in January to begin evaluating players again and beginning to compile our list for the Hemet Jamboree that has simply exploded in its two short years of existence. Already, we are hearing from college coaches who are planning on being there in early June. This event is paired with SoCal’s Finest Zoom Into June Showcase, one of the premier Showcase events on the yearly calendar. If you are interested in participating in the Hemet Jamboree, you will need to let us know as soon as possible so we can begin the evaluation process.
Next year is going to prove to be an exciting year for OnDeck Softball. Several new events are in the planning stages, and we think people will be surprised and excited as we unveil these new ideas. Again, thank you to all the players and parents who joined the OnDeck family this past year, and we look forward to meeting many new softball people as 2012 unfolds. Best wishes, and don’t hesitate to contact us if we can help you in any way.
