Phoenix Tryout

As usual, we had a great time in Arizona for the fall Phoenix Tryout. The weather always seems to be great; and the level of play in the area is exceedingly high – contribute to our having a lot of fun every time we are there. Many thanks to Keith Householder and his organization for helping us out. Keith has been an integral part of the Arizona softball scene for years, and we enjoy seeing him each and every time. I would also like to thank Randy Kaye from the Firecrackers for stopping by to say hello. It is always great to see him as well.

As for the players, we had a large contingent of very young players. There is no question that the future talent is going to be good. As always, we were impressed with the fundamentals of the players. Arizona players seem to have good glove skills and a real knowledge of the game; it is certainly a tribute to the teaching.

We had several noteworthy performances. 2021 C/3B/OF Emma Villaescusa showed tremendous potential both offensively and defensively. Emma has a chance to be a high level player if she keeps working on developing her game. Logan Cole, a 2022 middle infielder, showed defensive skills that are almost elite and very sophisticated for her age. We can’t wait to follow her progress in the years to come. 2018 3B Nikki Zielinski put on a show hitting, launching shot after shot out of the park. Nikki hit some prodigious homeruns on a field that had 200’ fences down the line and 220’ in dead center. And finally, 2019 Jordyn Pender, C/1B, showed some potential as both a defender and a hitter. Jordyn will only get better and better in the years ahead.

Listed below are the players selected to attend the Arizona Jamboree. Arizona Jamboree invitations will be sent by Friday, October 7th. All invitations are sent via email to the address provided in registration, unless otherwise requested.
