2018 SoCal Tryout

This was our second year with Danny Moore at Victory Park, and we really appreciate his efforts in putting together this tryout. The players did a really nice job of showcasing what they are capable of. Curiously, it was a slightly older group of players and we are thinking the new NCAA recruiting rules are responsible for this and giving many players new hope. There is no doubt in our minds that the recruiting will start to slow down at the young ages, and this is good not only for the game and the young players, but for the college coaches.

We had a number of very good performances throughout the two days. Camille Eaton put on a show at 2B and will be one of the best players in the 2020 class from the Seattle when all is said and done.  2020 Karli Manney is an outstanding offensively. With solid slapping mechanics and ability to swing away, she is an ideal #2 hole hitter. 2021 pitcher Jordan Hill showed a legit rise with true up-spin that she can control and throw for strikes. 2022 Trinity Brandon, an excellent offensive and defensive prospect, showed very well. Trinity is surely going to be a high level recruit if she continues to work on her game and her athleticism. Finally, I would be remiss in not mentioning the five Utah families that came for the tryout. The players were very young, but showed obvious potential. We commend the players and their families for realizing that to reach their potential they need to get outside their home state and see what high level softball is all about. We are excited to follow these young players and see how they develop in the years to come.

As with all our Tryouts, we want to remind both parents and players that the recruiting process is a journey that unfolds differently for every player. Be patient and let the process work and a good decision will ultimately be made. If you weren't selected, don't be discouraged, we would like to see how you progress and improve. The Huntington Beach Jamboree, Hemet Jamboree and Colorado Jamboree invitations will go out May 18th and the Arizona Jamboree invitations will go out July 17th. All invitations are sent via email to the address provided in registration, unless otherwise requested.
