In its fourth year, the ever-more-popular Colorado National Jamboree held in conjunction with the Fireworks tournament in Aurora, CO. This is a great event that features a group of players from across the nation and draws coaches of all levels – Power 5 Conference Schools to Division 3 and NAIA programs. This year just over 115 players on Sunday and 120 on Monday worked out and played in front of the college coaching community. The weather was beautiful. The venue was superb. And the players held up very well under the pressure.

2018s Brittany Baisden (P) and Sophia Bjerk (3B/1B) showed very well. Brittany is much improved over the last year. Her velocity, spins, and command have come leaps and bounds. Sophia is just a superb athlete who can swing it and defend well at each corner. Both these players should be looked at by a great number of schools in this country.

Also in the 2018 class, Audrey Lyle (C/1B/3B) and Megan Donahue (C/P/3B) played very well. Audrey is a recent de-commit who is on the move upward in the recruiting circles. She is strong, active, and vocal. Megan is a very good catching prospect and a good athlete. Both Audrey and Megan will be recruited by both large and small schools in the year ahead.

While there were many other outstanding performances over the course of the two days, I would be remiss in not mentioning the sweet swinging Emily Hansen (3B/UT). We have watched Emily grow up the last three years, and without question she is one of the outstanding hitting talents in the Midwest. We will be anxious to follow her recruiting path this next year.

The last two players I would like to mention are younger kids. 2019 Emily Hott (2B/OF) and 2020 Violet Zavodnik (OF) who excelled in Colorado. Emily was identified over a year ago by several schools, however she hung on to her dream of attending a different school despite pressures she encountered in the recruiting process. And Violet simply proves there are many great players out there who are not associated with the bigger and more elite programs. Violet can flat out play and should be looked at by every school in the nation.

As always, it is important to thank our friends at Triple Crown for allowing us to host this very prestigious two day event. Dave and Elliott are two very special people who deserve a lot of credit for all they have built. We want to publicly thank them for this great Colorado partnership, and we will look forward to many events in the future.

Please remember that the ODM numbers, while growing increasingly important, are only a snapshot of a player’s evaluation and potential. Use these numbers as a tool and work at developing your athleticism, but constantly work on improving and refining your softball skill set – both offensively and defensively.
