As always, we had a great time in Peoria for the Arizona Jamboree. This is always one of our favorite events for a number of reasons. First, the event itself is very, very good each year. The venue is one of our favorites. The weather is obviously great. The coaching turn-out is very good. And the talent pool is a nice mix of players generally from Arizona, California, Texas, and a few surrounding states. All those angles come together to really make this special each and every year.
As for the Jamboree itself, we had a number of outstanding performances. Rarely do we put seniors in our events, but we made an exception this year. 2016 pitcher Cheyenne Noli didn’t disappoint us in the least. An athletic right-hander brings it in the mid 60s with a solid array of spin. There is no doubt in our mind that she will have a great career at CSU Northridge whom she signed with shortly after the camp.
Two 2017s – catcher Melissa Nunes and pitcher Gabby Baker – have to be mentioned for their superlative play. Nunes is a high level talent out of NorCal who has just caught the eyes of many top programs. And Baker continues to build upon what is shaping up to be an outstanding prep career in Arizona. She consistantly hits 63 MPH on the gun and locates it exceedingly well.
2018s Jazmyn Rollins and Regan Kerr followed up their high level performances at the West Coast Elite Camp with exceptional performances here. Rollins is one of the best athletes we have ever seen at this level and believe she could start as a freshman at virtually any school in America. Kerr just continues to grow and mature as a player. The small and skinny player we saw two years ago is now a wonderful talent who will be highly recruited over the next year or two.
2019s Maddie Bejarano, Macy Simmons, Abby Wingo, and Jaiden Reid all displayed the skill set and athleticism that will put them on the radar of everyone across the country. And finally – 2020 Camyl Armendariz and 2021 Rylee Holtorf – need to be mentioned. We will look forward to seeing these two develop in the coming years.
