We have to start by thanking Rick and USSSA for their help with the 2017 Arizona Jamboree. Moving to Rose Mofford and using 2 fields this year allowed us to keep this a good regional event and give the players some great looks. The fields and location were great and we look forward to going back again next year.
We had some solid performances on the day. Starting with 2019 Kirsten Norris who had a great day at the plate. 2020's Teagan Dobson, Jennifer Cummings, Hannah Vargas and Kalli Richerson-Cook just keep getting better. They all stood out offensively, with good gap power. Dobson, Vargas and Richerson-Cook were great defenisvely and Cummings are stellar behind the plate.
2021 Baie Ensio showed great potienal as a slapper, with good bat control and footwork and excellent speed, she will be hard to get out. Karmyna Becerra had an excellent day offensively and is a stud at 3B. She is a player that will garner a lot of attention in the next couple years. Pitchers McKenna Feringa showed poise and control on the mound with a killer change up and Brooklynn Thompson had excellent movement and command.
2022 Riley Lauffer looked like a natural at 1B and has real potential offensively. Tanya Windle, Krista Francia and Alannah Rodgers showed their athleticism and finesse defensively. Camryn Davis was absoultey excellent, consistantly hitting 60mph, with good spins and locations. We look forward to seeing how all the younger players progress over the spring and refine their skills.
Thank you to all the players and parents who made the Arizona Jamboree a success. The weather was great and players worked very hard. We look forward to seeing you all next year.
Please remember that the ODM numbers, while growing increasingly important, are only a snapshot of a player’s evaluation and potential. Use these numbers as a tool and work at developing your athleticism, but constantly work on improving and refining your softball skill set – both offensively and defensively.
