The Banditfest is always a great way to start off the new year. We really enjoy working with Beverly Bandit coach, Bill Conroy, and Illinois Chill coach, Gerry Quinn, they are wonderful people who share our vision for helping players through-out the Midwest. And are just really good guys and we could never do what we do in Chicago without their assistance. We also want recognize the strides this region has made over the last five years. The players get better each and every year. The Dome at Rosemont is an awesome venue! A person can’t really conceive of it until they walk in the door. It is fabulous.
As for the Jamboree itself, this was a nice group of players. The college coaching turnout was excellent with coaches from the Big 10, SEC, Big 12, Horizon, Colonial, Conference USA, Atlantic 10, Big East, and several others.
We had several high level pitchers including 2018 Taylor Nichols; 2019s Erin Kleffman, Jenna Veber, and Lauren Esman; 2020s Molly Chambers, Danielle Drogemuller, and Julyana Gomez; and 2021s Madi Young, Britney Lewinski, Keri Munn, Sydney Carter, and Trinity Robertson. Nichols is coming off an injury and is just rounding into form, this performance will no doubt propel her forward. Chambers oozes potential, she throws a heavy ball and has excellent downball action. She will have a host of options in the years ahead. Gomez was a real surprise. We saw her over the summer and she was good, today she was really good. Hitters consistently missed against her and she has excellent velocity that comes from a relaxed and fluid motion.
There were some nice outings by the position players, and far too many to mention here. However, notable performances in Session 1 were turned in by Laurel DeVoe, Jessica Mazur, Isabella Curtin, Erica Holt, and Jayla Shelton. All five players are excellent athletes with very solid offensive and defensive games. The level of play in Session 2 was exceedingly high. Kaitlyn Brannstrom, Tori O’Brien, Lauren Sciborski, Cassidy Grimm, Kaylee Gross, and Sierra Kersten were all great throughout the day and will be high level recruits as they mature, grow, and gain strength. In Session 3, Kinsey Mitchell, Allyson Alexander, Macy Krohman, Larissa Ortiz, and Rose Roach showed enormous potential and we are excited to see them progress in the years ahead.
Again, we want to thank Bill Conroy and Gerry Quinn, along with Rams Harkness and Mike Steuerwald, the head coach of the NPF’s Chicago Bandits, was great hitting fungo.
Thank you all for making this Banditfest success.
