This Jamboree has become a staple of midwestern recruiting, and we can’t thank Bill Conroy and Gerry Quinn enough for their help over the last seven years in making this a great event. Each year the Chicago Jamboree sees players making huge strides in their recruiting heading into the final weeks of summer.
We had a high level play and the group of pitchers was very good. We have noticed an uptick in pitching velocity at our Jamborees, and this was no different with a number of pitchers topping 60 consistently. 2021 Anna Wischnowski who routinely hit 64 MPH. 2019 Taylor Murray was excellent, as usual, and will most likely find a school very soon. Taylor is just too good to slip thru the cracks. 2020 Molly Chambers showed huge strides over the last year. Once strictly a downball pitcher, is now able to easily throw up in the zone making her much more effective in the circle. 2021 Katie Arrambide showed a legit rise that she can throw for strikes and simply baffles hitters. And finally 2022 Brinkley Kita excelled with the younger group and has a bright future.
Catchers 2020 Emmy Wells, 2021 MacKenzie Ming, and 2021 Jenna Golembiewski all played very well. Emmy has a big bat and can hit for power. MacKenzie is solid both offensively and defensively. And Jenna is not only skilled, but also has a cerebral approach to the game that is rare in a young player. 2020 position players Katelynn Sebastiani, Torince Muczynski, and Katelynne Schulte were all exceptional at the plate. 2021s Kyla Kissee and Jenna Blevins showed the ability to hit with power and for average. And 2022 hitters Alaina Miller, Kelsey Nader, and Breanne Mitchell displayed a sophistication we rarely see.
We would like to mention an incredible group of players from the St. Louis Chaos who had great days. 2021 Jane Kaniecki was exceptional both at the plate and in the outfield. 2021 Calista Collins can swing the bat and hit for power. 2021 Lexi Gorniak is a classic utility player who can play anywhere on the field. 2021 Julia Crenshaw is a gifted SS with a solid bat. 2022 Chloe Rhine is a smooth middle infielder oozing with potential. And 2022 Abby Robbins has poise, talent, and maturity in the circle. These young ladies were not only talented, but they were also funny, energetic, and outgoing. Every coach in the country should be checking out the Chaos program and this group over the next few years.
Please remember that the ODM numbers, while growing increasingly important, are only a snapshot of a player’s evaluation and potential. Use these numbers as a tool and work at developing your athleticism, but constantly work on improving and refining your softball skill set – both offensively and defensively.
