2018 marked the 6th Colorado Jamboree and the OnDeck team loves coming to the Aurora Sports Park to run this Jamboree. It is hard to believe that the park marked it’s twenty-year anniversary because the fields are still as good as they can be. We are very thankful to the Triple Crown organization and the people at Aurora Sports Park for helping us make this a great event.
Players and coaches come from all over the country to attend this Jamboree and play in the various tournaments in the Denver area. Every year, we have players that start their week off right with a great day at the Jamboree and this year was no exception.
Monday featured a great group of catchers who were also really good hitters. 2019 Luz Aguilasocho was superb offensively and very solid defensively with good pop times. 2020 Madyson Devers was excellent as well. Madyson can flat out hit and is very accomplished defensively. 2021 Izabella Martinez is an excellent hitter with good catching skills.
The pitchers were again superb on this day with four getting it to 63 MPH or higher. 2020 Kaitlyn Young and 2021 Allison Benning both hit 65 and had solid outtings. Kaitlyn was great during the live hitting, making hitters miss, hitting her spots and easily maintaing her velocity. Allison kept hitters off balance and showed good control.
2019 outfielder Tristyn Hamilton has to be mentioned, she can absolutely fly. Running a 2.62 second 20 yard dash (home to first) and has a huge arm. She is one of the best pure athletes in her class, with an Allister Index of 97.99. Tristyn also showed solid swing mechanics and was good defensively. She is going to be a valuable addition to whichever college softball program she chooses.
Thank you to all the players, parents and coaches that attended and made this a great day.
Please remember that the ODM numbers, while growing increasingly important, are only a snapshot of a player’s evaluation and potential. Use these numbers as a tool and work at developing your athleticism, but constantly work on improving and refining your softball skill set – both offensively and defensively.
