The 2016 edition of the June Jamboree turned out to be possibly the greatest OnDeck Jamboree we’ve had thus far! The day turned out to be perfect. The talent level was superb. And we had a record number of college coaches – 200+! Add to that the great lunch that was provided by the Minor’s Gold organization, and no one could have asked for more.
June Jamboree featured probably our deepest pool of pitching talent since the days of Dallas Escobedo and Kenzie Fowler. This year’s group of pitchers was led by 2018 Molly Millar, who can regularly bring it at 66 MPH with legit spin. A group of youngsters – 2021 Savannah Hooks, 2020 Tehya Bird, 2020 Tess Mangnanimo, and 2020 Morgan Smith – also showed the coaches incredible poise, spin, velocity, and mechanics.
Other standouts on the day were 2017 C/OF Lauren Espalin and 2017 OF Rylie Seip. Lauren is a hitter who we see hit good pitching all the time and anywhere it’s pitched. Lauren also showed her maturity and strength as a catcher with excellent pop times to 2B and an ability to lead. Rylie is a tall OF talent who can run, throw, and hit. She is exceedingly athletic, and it was great to see her roam the grass. Presleigh Pilon, Grace Guzman, and Taylor Gindlesperger continued their impressive runs at OnDeck events. All three young players have attended multiple OnDeck events, including the West Coast Elite Camp. Presleigh, Grace, Taylor, and Lauren have been patiently navigating the verbal waters waiting for the school of their dreams. It is refreshing to see them have the patience and confidence in their own abilities that allows them to hang tight and let the process play out. We are confident that when it comes time to make that life-changing decision, these young ladies will make an informed and educated decision based on the things that really matter!
