For the 17th year, we held the June Jamboree down in SoCal on the opening weekend of the summer recruiting season. This staple event started with a partnership between OnDeck and Tony Rico as an alternative to Las Vegas. Tony, one of the great people in the game, launched the tournament. We launched the camp. And one of the most significant events on the recruiting calendar was born.
That first camp was held at Diamond Valley in Hemet. Since then it has moved to the beautiful Rosetta Canyon facility in Lake Elsinore, and this year shifted to Chino’s Ayala Park. But while the venue has changed, the camp has remained the same. 105 solid college prospects convened at Ayala to showcase their skill set for the college scouts in attendance.
We are thankful for our partnership with Triple Crown Sports. Working with Krista and Kaitlin to continue to provide a great recruiting event along with their Zoom into June tournament is a great way to start the summer.
Two really interesting prospects in the 2027 class emerged quickly. 2027 1B Angela Gates and 2027 MI Olivia Rosales put on a show right from the get-go. We were shocked to hear from Angela that her recruiting was a bit light right now. And while Olivia has heard from some people, her pool of prospective schools should have doubled by the end of the camp. Angela is a bomber who hits the ball deep and is very athletic. Without question, she is one of the best 1B prospects in this class defensively. Rarely do we see a first base prospect with such great hands and feet. She is a legit player who can play at most D1 schools. Similarly, Olivia is an excellent Mid Major prospect in the middle infield possessing a smooth and efficient defensive skill set and a solid offensive game. Hitting off the left side, Olivia is going to be a hitter who hits for a solid average with some power potential. Her upside as a player is apparent, and we can only predict good things ahead of her as she moves into the college game.
In the 2028 class, we had a number of outstanding performances. OF Aalayah McCall showed a very solid offensive game, along with OF/Middle Infielder Kayla Leibrant and Luciana Bianchi. All three of these young players exhibited the potential to be high level hitters in the years ahead. Outfielders Stella Mares and Brooklyn Lonteen showed flashes of brilliance with the bat. Middle Infielder Reese Litherland displayed an all-around game that is surely going to catch the eye of many schools in the year ahead.
The 2029 pitcher group showed lots of potential Lucy Harding, Emily Morici, Julionna Ropp and Remi Spangler led the charge with good velocity and emerging spins. 2030 Delilah Bui is an athletic pitcher that is oozing with potential on all sides of the ball. We are excited about their potential and look forward to seeing how they progress over the summer and into next year.
Lastly, we want to give a shoutout to Cal assistant coach Danielle Gibson who was in attendance. Danielle attended our events as a young player back in 2014 and quickly showed her incredible talent as a hitter. At both Arizona State and Arkansas, she became one of the most feared hitters in the game. She was twice named All American, and played professionally with the Bandits and also with the AUSL. It was great to see her once again.
Please remember that the ODM numbers, while growing increasingly important, are only a snapshot of a player’s evaluation and potential. Use these numbers as a tool and work at developing your athleticism, but constantly work on improving and refining your softball skill set – both offensively and defensively.
These numbers have also been posted to your profile.
