Once again this camp proved to be softball’s premier recruiting event for the year. A large contingent of major college coaches were in attendance over the course of the two days. As we have come to expect, the talent level matched the high levels we have had in the past. To see the impressive list of players that attended this camp in the past, CLICK HERE. We have to thank Mt. San Antonio Junior College, the athletic department and espcially the softball team, assistant coach Crystal Bustos and head coach Ruby Rojas.

But the talk here really needs to center itself around the talented players who graced the field...wow! This year featured one of the finest hitting groups we have had. Several coaches commented on this fact, and there was no question about it when hitter after hitter launched ball after ball out of the park. But that was not all that was going on. Defensively a great number of players shined, and the pitching was very, very good.

There were far too many special performances to mention; however, several hitters truly stood out. 2018 Caitlyn Koenig; 2019 Ellie Bailey; 2020 Taylor Holcroft; 2021s Zaida Puni; and 2022 Jordan Woolery all showed impressive power potential ans shots over the scoreboard became almost common.

In addition, a number of other hitters displayed a real talent that will translate into college, hitting for high average along with some solid power numbers. 2018 Brylynn Vallejos; 2019 Bradianne Glover; 2020 Violet Zavodnik; 2021 Spencer Prigge; and 2022 Jocelyn Erickson all have rock solid hitting mechanics that will certainly hold up against pitching they face now and in the future.

2018 Sophia Bjerk; 2019 Alanna Barraza; 2020 Ashley Donaldson; 2021 Cydney Sanders; and 2022 Vivianna Martinez showed remarkable offensive and defensive skills that will make them highly recruited over the next year.

And finally for the pitchers, 2018 Mikayla Santa Cruz; 2019 Mata Faapito; 2020 Morgan Smith; 2021 Lacie Ham; and 2022 Olivia Gigante will be high level pitchers at the next level if they keep working on improving their games and their athleticism. Morgan has to be singled out for her tremendous potential. We clocked her consistently at 66 MPH on the Stalker Pro II which we rarely see at any level of travel ball. We will be excited to see all these players continue to develop and blossom in the years ahead.

We want to thank everyone who makes the West Coast Elite Camp a very special two days each and every year. We will look forward to next year and  our 15th anniversary of OnDeck Softball.
