The 15th annual West Coast Elite Camp featured one of the deepest pools of talent in recent memory. This camp has been a fixture on the softball scene and showcased some of the greatest names in the game over the years. Valerie Ariota, was in the 2005 camp and is a member of the 2019 USA National Team. Other National Team members that have participated over the years include Ali Aguilar, Bubba Nickles, Ally Carda, Rachel Garcia, Dejah Mulipola, Aubree Munro, and Delaney Spaulding. Along with Washington’s Sis Bates, UCLA’s Brianna Perez, Oklahoma’s Jocelyn Alo, Texas’ Miranda Elish, and the list goes on and on. The West Coast Elite Camp has a rich tradition that will continue to be upheld with this year’s group of players.

There were sparkling performances galore and a coach expressed it was the best group of players he has seen in recent memory. He felt it was not only a very talented offensive group, but equally as good defensively. The defensive play was simply brilliant. 2021 Nikki Barboza was mesmerizing defensively in the infield; making great play after great play. She has soft hands and can make all the plays and throws needed. Additionally, 2021 Brooklyn Ulrich showed the immense level of talent she possesses. The Arizona native is flat-out going to be a high level player at the next level. 2022 Jessica Oakland showed flashes of brilliance and high end athleticism throughout the day. And 2022 Maddie Erickson from the Northwest showed why she is only of the most highly recruited players in her class. Maddie is strong, athletic, and multi-talented. She pitches, plays a solid 3B, and hits it a mile.

We would be remiss in not mentioning one other highly talented athlete - 2022 Sydney Groves from Idaho. Sydney is very good both offensively and defensively. And while she is just scratching the surface of her potential right now, it is safe to say that she will be a major recruit in the year ahead. Tall, athletic, and highly skilled; we will be excited to see what will be happening with Sydney a year from now.

Our pitching group was one of the better collective groups from the past few years. Jessica Hubbard, Trisha McClesky, Rylee Wyman, Presley Hosick, Maddie Erickson, and Brielle Wright were exceptional. Special note needs to be made for Reno, Nevada native Rylee. The very recent change in her pitching mechanics, coupled with her increased velocity, her addition of a solid drop, and the return of one of the better low rise pitches on the West Coast, all will make her a highly coveted prospect by September 2020.

Finally, in the group of 2023 athletes, we had notable performances by Leah Mays, Jolie Mayfield, Camryn Davis, Brooke Blocker, Addie Mettler, Delaney Everett, Reese Lee, and Avery Sapp. All the young players in this class are going to be high level recruits if they just keep working on their games and their athleticism. Camryn, Delaney, and Avery are premier pitching talents. Brooke, Addie, Reese, Leah, and Jolie are high level athletes with matching high level skill sets. It will be exciting to follow their progress in the years ahead.

Thank you to all the players and parents for being a part of the 2019 West Coast Elite Camp. We look forward to seeing you all again next summer.

A special thank you goes out to Travis from SoCal Triple Crown for his help. And to Eric and his ground crew are amazing people and workers, and we can’t thank them enough.
