Sacramento Tryout

As always, we had a great time at the Sacramento Tryout. One thing that made it special was a large contingent of players from the Reno/Carson City area attend along with 5 players from the Northwest. It was great to see the high level of interest from other parts of the west coast. There was an extremely high level of play, represented by the almost 50% of the players who are selected for Jamborees – a rare feat for such a large group. We would like to give kudos in particular to the Sunday morning group which was one of the best collective group of players we have had in recent memory.

Special mention for several players. We can’t wait to get Harleigh Braswell in front of the coaching world, she can just flat-out play. Ashley Pye, who used to chase balls for us while her sister participated in Jamborees. Alexis San Filippo is a very good player, always aware of everything that was going on around her – an invaluable trait for a good player. The Luschar sisters, Kailee and Kedre, showed flashes of high level talent that will emerge in the year ahead. And finally, Chelie Senini who has a chance to be a major D-1 player, she combines her softball skill set with speed, strength and athleticism.

There was a group of young NorCal Batbusters participating and it is obvious that all of them love the game and are interested in becoming good players. They made us reflect on the journey young players and families are on and the steps it takes to get there. We will look forward to seeing what the future holds for them as they work to develop their skill set and athleticism.

As with all our Tryouts, we want to remind both parents and players that the recruiting process is a journey that unfolds differently for every player. Be patient and let the process work and a good decision will ultimately be made. If you weren't selected, don't be discouraged, we would like to see how you progress and improve. The June Jamboree and Colorado Jamboree invitations will be sent by April 19th and the NorCal Jamboree and Arizona Jamboree invitations will go out by July 21st. All invitations are sent via email to the address provided in registration, unless otherwise requested. Please add info@ondecksoftball.net to your contacts to ensure you get the invitation.
