Chicago Jamboree

Immediately following our Colorado Jamboree and scouting endeavors at various Colorado tournaments, we all headed to Chicago for one of our favorite summer events – the Chicago Jamboree. It is held in conjunction with the DeMarini Invitational, Bill Conroy (Beverly Bandits) and Gerry Quinn (Illinois Chill) are exceedingly helpful in making the Jamboree successful and run a phenomenal tournament. Each and every year, a large contingent of coaches flock to Ackerman Park for the Chicago Jamboree and the tournament itself. 

The event itself almost didn’t come to fruition due to rain the night before and the morning of the Jamboree. But with the work of an outstanding park’s crew, the sloppy fields were transformed into a great playing surface within just a 90 minute window. While we had to skip the lunch break, we were able to get everything in virtually on time. And I have to say that was a miracle in itself. But we did it, and we can’t thank our staff and the Glen Ellyn staff enough for their efforts.

On to the Jamboree. 2018 middle infielder Rachel Becker, last fall she won the Zepp Outstanding Hitter award at the East Coast Elite Camp. According to Rachel, she has been lightly recruited up to this point, but that is about to change in a big way based on her performance in the Jamboree. Rachel can flat out hit, what was once gap power has now blossomed into the ability to drive the ball deep.

 2019 2B/OF Maggie Finnegan, 2020 Pitcher Amber Linton, and 2021 Lauren Sciborski (C/3B) all did an excellent job both offensively and defensively along with many, many others. We were impressed with all the players and look forward to seeing how they progess.
