Whenever I get on my computer and try to write something like this, I first attempt to find a theme that I can center it around. This writing was no different, but the theme was easy to find. In fact it was obvious within the first few minutes of the camp kicking off. It came with the pitchers hitting BP! Yes the pitchers!!
Right out of the gate, 2025 P Claire Kirby dug in and began crushing it. She was followed by Alissa Snipes; who was followed by Taylor Sloss. When we got to 2026 P and uber athlete Ayla Tuua, she proceeded to drop bomb after bomb, and one hopped the 340’ fence! And it didn’t stop there. 2026 P Hunter Lewis stepped into the box and started launching them off the left side. 2029 Alivia Ramon got in on the act displaying power potential that is rarely seen in one so young.
We’ve seen this in our camps before. Rachel Garcia. Aly Carda. But I can’t remember a group of pitchers putting on such a power display. But that was only the beginning. The power hitters kept on rolling through. 2026 Catcher Karmen Vasquez. 2026 Catcher Hayden Sujack. 2027 catchers – Chloe Hernandez, Alexis Mujica, and Bridget Mulligan. 2026 Infielder Avery Bielenberg. 2026 Infielder Leilani Terrazas. 2027 Infielder Emma Reynolds. 2027 Infielder Zaliyah Jones. 2028 Siena Balistreri. That onslaught didn’t even include the great number of high level hitters who will hit in the middle of their future college line-up. The bottom line was that Monday Colorado featured possibly the greatest collection of hitters in recent OnDeck memory.
Thanks goes out to all the families who committed to this great camp and to the players who made this camp so memorable. The 2024 Sunday Colorado and Monday Colorado Jamborees were two of the best camps in OnDeck history. They kicked off the week of Colorado tournaments with a bang, and from our vantage point it never slowed down from there. Congrats to Kerry King and Krista Judge for once again putting on one of softball’s premier weeks of competition. We will look forward to being back in Aurora next year!
Please remember that the ODM numbers, while growing increasingly important, are only a snapshot of a player’s evaluation and potential. Use these numbers as a tool and work at developing your athleticism, but constantly work on improving and refining your softball skill set – both offensively and defensively.
