Northern California always has been a hotbed of talent for OnDeck Softball events – Bubba Nickels and Ali Carda (UCLA), Sis Bates (Washington), Jolene & Danielle Henderson (Cal), Frankie Hammoude (Oregon State), Mia Camuso and Cherish Burk (Oregon), and Alissa Haber & Mya Burns (Stanford) just to name a few.
Over the years we have found many special players at this tryout and this year would be no exception. While the two days dawned cool and breezy, it was great to be out at the field watching softball. We had a full house show up for both days with ages ranging from 7th grade to 11th grade.
Right out of the gate on Saturday Taylor Sansaver (2027 OF) absolutely blew up on the OnDeck radar screen. Taylor is an incredibly gifted athlete who already is capable of putting up D1 ODM® numbers.. 2025 pitcher Ellison Schroeder has the size and athleticism that college coaches covet. She can pitch at 63 mph, has good command of a biting, heavy down ball that will surely keep her team in many games. 2025 SS Micayla Arlotto displays a solid defensive skill set and a solid offensive game. And finally, 2026 Emry Couch is a very solid outfielder with a good offensive game. She is tough and has an irrepressible personality that is infectious. She has a chance to be a very good player with additional work and refinement.
We will be anxious to get these young players and many others in front of the college coaching community this summer. There is no question that the 2023 Sacramento Tryout was an excellent group of players. Sunday’s group in particular was comprised of a good number of excellent hitting prospects. With continued work on their games, most of these players will be able to find a place at the next level of play. Thanks to the parents for joining us. Thanks to Keith Frye and Andy Lopez for helping us throughout the two days. And thanks to the players themselves for coming out and showing us what they can do.

Please remember that the ODM numbers, while growing increasingly important, are only a snapshot of a player’s evaluation and potential. They are also just a portion of the Tryout selection process, for more information read Your Tryout & ODM Numbers. Use these numbers as a tool and work at developing your athleticism, but constantly work on improving and refining your softball skill set – both offensively and defensively.
An Allister Index is not given with Tryout ODM numbers.
Player evaluations were available for purchase until April 14th. If you are interested in purchasing an evaluation, please email info@ondecksoftball.net
