As usual, we had a great time in San Diego. The weather was perfect, and we can’t thank Scott Berndes for hosting us at his Power Surge fields.

We had several very good performances over the course of the day. The best hitter was without a doubt 2020 Catcher/3B Madison Helms. The ball explodes off her bat, and she hits pitches in all parts of the strike zone. 2021 Rosie Garcia has a great glove and can make all the plays in the infield. She also has a chance to be a solid catcher with some work. For a youngster, she has a sophisticated skill set. And finally, the player who caught our eye in the outfield was 2022 Taylor Romero. Taylor already has a pretty good idea of what it means to be an outfielder. Rarely do we see quality, fundamental play on the grass, but her fundamentals are certainly beyond her years.

We also are excited to see how many of you are taking the TAP assessment that we talked about during the tryout. That is going to be a new frontier in the sport, and we are excited to help you all have a leg up an all your competition. Learn more HERE or TAKE THE TEST NOW

As with all our Tryouts, we want to remind both parents and players that the recruiting process is a journey that unfolds differently for every player. Be patient and let the process work and a good decision will ultimately be made. If you weren't selected, don't be discouraged, we would like to see how you progress and improve. Please email your travel ball schedule to info@ondecksoftball.net

Please remember that the ODM numbers, while growing increasingly important, are only a snapshot of a player’s evaluation and potential. They are also just a portion of the Tryout selection process, for more information read Your Tryout & ODM Numbers. Use these numbers as a tool and work at developing your athleticism, but constantly work on improving and refining your softball skill set – both offensively and defensively.
