We were excited to get back to Houston for a tryout after a number of years of not holding one there. The talent level is high and we can't wait to make this an annual stop. We also want to thank Tim Ramon for all his help with this tryout and securing an indoor facility when the weather took a turn, The HTL Train facility is superb. Bryce and his staff have a great facility and they are adding to it.
This tryout was full of solid players from the 2027 to 2030 classes. All the players have put in some work training and it really shows. Some who just need another year to grow and devleop their games and we can't wait to see them next year.
t is important to remember that in all tryouts we are looking for skill sets and athleticism. We do it this way to make sure an athlete can hold her own in the Jamboree or National Camp setting. If the skill sets of the player can hold up under the rigor of an OnDeck workout, and the prospect is athletic enough to match the athleticism of the other players, then we are good to go. It is our feeling that attending coaches will find that athlete intriguing enough to follow and evaluate on their own.

If you were not selected, keep working on your skill set and athleticism. Do not be discouraged. We want to do what is best for you and help you be successful on the softball field.

Please remember that the ODM numbers, while growing increasingly important, are only a snapshot of a player’s evaluation and potential. They are also just a portion of the Tryout selection process, for more information read Your Tryout & ODM Numbers. Use these numbers as a tool and work at developing your athleticism, but constantly work on improving and refining your softball skill set – both offensively and defensively.
