In our first year at El Modena High School for the Irvine Tryout, the facility was very good, and the playing surface was superb. Many thanks to the coaching staff and the school for hosting us.
We also have to thank Susie Parra and Paul Nakama for their help during the tryout. As most of you know, Susie was one of the greatest players in the history of the game. She pitched at Arizona and lead them to three NCAA titles. She was a National Player of the Year, and on the U.S. National Team. And for us she throws great BP. We are always thankful when she is available. Paul works with the Irvine Sting and is one of the nicest people. He also hits amazing OF fungo. He might be one of the best we have ever had in a tryout. We can’t thank both Susie and Paul for their efforts.
As for the tryout it's self, both days went very well. We had a number of excellent performances. The Sunday group of outfielders was one of the best we have ever had as a group. 2021s Emily Zuniga, Kami Klapp, Alex Ramirez, Karissa Munsey; 2022s Britney Moreno, Gizella Vargas, Presley Hosick; and 2023s Kealani Caster, Lea Rachal all did a really good job in the outfield portion of the workout. The reason I want to mention these players is that we rarely see sophisticated outfielders. Not many young players are taught how to play on the grass, so it was gratifying to watch this group do their thing.
Some other notable performances were turned in by 2023 Lea Rachal a superb athlete who oozes with potential. She is strong and athletic. 2021 Karissa Munsey is one of the better defensive 1B we have seen recently, and she can swing it. 2022 Presley Hosick is a smooth hitter and solid pitcher. She shows real promise with the bat, and locates her pitches very well. 2020 Virginia Nemeth is going to create some buzz this summer as one of the better available players in her class. She is fast, strong and athletic. And her skill set is very good. Finally, 2023 Julie Holcomb is an outstanding outfielder who can really swing the bat. She is going to be a highly recruited player if she keeps getting better.
Listed below are the players selected and the invitations they are guaranteed. It is important to know that all players were considered for all Jamborees. The Huntington Beach Jamboree, Rosetta Canyon Jamboree and Colorado Jamboree invitations will go out January 31st and fall events will be assigned and invitations will go out August 5th. All invitations are sent via email to the address provided in registration, unless otherwise requested. Please add info@ondecksoftball.net to your contacts to ensure you get the invitation. Events are not interchangeable and we can't guarantee placement in another event, if you can't attend your selected event email info@ondecksoftball.net.

Please remember that the ODM numbers, while growing increasingly important, are only a snapshot of a player’s evaluation and potential. They are also just a portion of the Tryout selection process, for more information read Your Tryout & ODM Numbers. Use these numbers as a tool and work at developing your athleticism, but constantly work on improving and refining your softball skill set – both offensively and defensively.

Player evaluations are available for purchase for two weeks after the Tryout ($20/player). Evaluations take about a week to be written and formatted from the date of purchase. All evaluations will be emailed to the address provided. If you are interested in a detailed tryout evaluation:
