A few years ago, we were surprised when a group of five Utah families showed up in Southern California for a tryout. Tiesha Korth was one of those, and she brought her daughter, Kaysen. After conversing with the group, our thought was it would be better to go to them, than have those families driving to us. And from that initial encounter came the annual Utah Tryout.
The following year, we showed up at Salt Lake City College, and welcomed a large group of Utah players. Fast forward to this year, and Kaysen is now a freshman at BYU. We had overflow group of players showed up at SLCC for a great tryout. The SLCC softball program continues to be a dominant program nationally. And like each of the other years, we got a chance to see a really nice group of players who have a chance to play at the next level.
There was nice mix of players ranging from seventh graders Lexi Huntley and Kaylie Taylor to several juniors in high school. We can only mention a few players here, but there were several outstanding performances. 2027 P/Hitter Brielle Gardiner. Brielle has the size and athleticism that college coaches look for. She also can really play and is destined to be a high velocity pitcher at the next level throwing it 65 mph right now. 2026 3B/1B Maggie Hamblin is a legit power hitter who will wow the college coaches this summer. Maggie can hit it deep . . . very deep and does a nice job defensively. 2026 C/3B Allyson Young and 2026 P Carly Jones both showed a good upside. And 2025s Aracely De Leon (3B), Bella Douglas (3B), and Sophie Bliss (OF) were impressive.
Finally, we want to mention several very special people who helped us out. Tanya Smith, who has two daughters who play and has helped us for several years now. We appreciate her help in setting this up and her support throughout the years. Former OnDeck camper Abby Robertson, who played at Utah and Cal Baptist, hit fungo for us. Abby is a fungo disciple of Socal Bengals owner Ken Briggs, and she did him proud this day. Needless to say, it was great to catch up with Abby and introduce her to the players in attendance.
We would like to thank all the parents and players for attending the tryout. The softball journey is a very special time as a family, and we are glad you made OnDeck part of it.

Please remember that the ODM numbers, while growing increasingly important, are only a snapshot of a player’s evaluation and potential. They are also just a portion of the Tryout selection process, for more information read Your Tryout & ODM Numbers. Use these numbers as a tool and work at developing your athleticism, but constantly work on improving and refining your softball skill set – both offensively and defensively.
These numbers have also been posted to your profile. An Allister Index is not given with Tryout ODM numbers.
