We had a really good group of players turn out for our second SoCal Tryout of the year. We hope this helps the players in that northern Los Angeles area. We can sympathize with them that they are always driving south to OC or Lake Elsinore for softball events. So this is our attempt to give them a break. And by the turnout of players, it looks to be working.
I would like to thank Paul Nakama, Jessie Martinez, Nicole Giordano, and Scott Ludden for their help over the weekend. It has been years since we crossed paths with Nicole. She was a great player at the University of Arizona and also played for Team USA. Scott has been working hard on the Encino Franklin Field, and it showed. We appreciate all the hard work he has put in over the past year.
As for the players, we had a number of excellent performances. But we can only going to highlight a few. One player that really stood out was 2024 P Madison Finnerty. She is strong and athletic. The ball jumps out of her hand and easily gets to 64-65 mph with some natural up-spin. 2024 OF/hitter Driana Martinez is very good. She can really swing the bat, and has a solid OF skill set. And finally, 2023 3B Kyla Acres put on a hitting show on Saturday. There is little doubt in my mind that she will catch the eyes of many D1 coaches this summer.

The Rosetta Canyon Jamboree and Colorado Jamboree invitations have been sent. The Fall Jamboree invitations will be sent July 8th. Please remember that the ODM numbers, while growing increasingly important, are only a snapshot of a player’s evaluation and potential. They are also just a portion of the Tryout selection process, for more information read Your Tryout & ODM Numbers. Use these numbers as a tool and work at developing your athleticism, but constantly work on improving and refining your softball skill set – both offensively and defensively.
These numbers have also been posted to your profile. An Allister Index is not given with Tryout ODM numbers.
Player evaluations are available for purchase for the next two weeks ($35/player). Evaluations take 10 business days to be written, formatted and posted from the date of purchase. Evaluations are posted to the player's profile, but only viewable by the player when logged in.
