We want to thank all the families who came out last weekend to the Sacramento Tryout at Heron Landing Park in Rancho Cordova. It was a beautiful day, and boy did I have a lot of fun. This tryout was my first event since February of 2020. So I can honestly tell you that I enjoyed every minute of the day.
We had some really good performances on the day. A group of LTG players had excellent days and reflect the attention to detail that Joe Henderson and Jim Carda embody. 2023s Tatum Silva, Emily Taylor, and Sydney Barker; and 2025 Carly Short all showed the athleticism and skill set college coaches are looking for.
It is important to mention the absolute show that (SS) Sydney, Carly, and (SS) Samantha Nichols put on turning double plays. I absolutely got fired up. Both have great glove skills and ultra quick releases. 2024 OF Jamisyn Albin was also very good and showed a refined OF skill set that we rarely see.
It was great to see Presli Kooyman (2021 3B/SS) back in action. There is no doubt in our mind she will have several options when it’s all said and done this Summer. She will be a good lesson to all that perseverance and a willingness to stay with the process will reap rewards in the end if you have the game and the athleticism.
Remember, the this process takes time and directed effort for it to succeed. The path is different for every player. Some will blossom early. Some will blossom later in their HS career. We tell everyone that you have to improve your athleticism each and every year. The game is more athletic than it has ever been, and it is your responsibility to keep up.
Listed below are the players selected and the invitations they are guaranteed. It is important to know that all players were considered for Jamborees. The Huntington Beach Jamboree, Rosetta Canyon Jamboree and Colorado Jamboree invitations will be sent March 26th. The invitations for the Fall Jamborees and Report Camps will be sent August 7th. Please remember that the ODM numbers, while growing increasingly important, are only a snapshot of a player’s evaluation and potential. They are also just a portion of the Tryout selection process, for more information read Your Tryout & ODM Numbers. Use these numbers as a tool and work at developing your athleticism, but constantly work on improving and refining your softball skill set – both offensively and defensively.
These numbers have also been posted to your profile. An Allister Index is not given with Tryout ODM numbers.
