Once again this week, we were faced with some very unfavorable weather conditions . . . even tho we were in Arizona! The area had been served a steady diet of rain, and all the parks were closed. With the exception of Arizona Athletic Grounds in Mesa, AZ. These turf fields provided a perfect venue for our Phoenix Tryout. Ramsey Harkness, who we’ve known for a long time and is the director of the park, facilitated it all on short notice. So WOW! Once again we got lucky and had a great day.
The day turned out to be perfect. And the players did a nice job of showcasing their skills and athleticism. And just like San Diego a week earlier we had some players really shine.
2025 infielders Makenzie Jones and Abbie Shellabarger were outstanding all day. Both players are very good athletes with good arms, quick feet, good hands, and outstanding skill sets. 2026 outfielder Saige Peters and middle infielder Alena Mascarenas were exceptional. Saige is a lanky, athletic prospect with good physical tools and good skills. She covers well and is solid in the box. Alena is strong and athletic. She moves well in the infield and is a solid hitting prospect. 2027s Emma Reynolds and Jada Rubalcava had a very good day. Emma might have been the best defender in the camp, and she adds a very strong offensive game to that great glove. Jada is also a solid defender with an aggressive offensive game. And finally, there were several young players in the 2028 and 2029 classes who did well. Two 2021s I have to mention are middle infielder Andreana Hernandez and Catcher/UT Laney Kroeger. Andreana is smooth and effortless defensively. Laney is just oozing with talent. If they work hard in the years to come, they surely will be two of Arizona’s best in their class.
Thanks to all the parents and players who hung with us. A special thank you also to Ramsey for making the entire day possible. Without his efforts on our behalf, we never could have pulled this off.
This will be OnDeck’s 24th year of scouting for college coaches, and it is our 20th year of running the recruiting events. The Phoenix Tryout was a great day and a great way to continue our 2024 campaign.

Listed below are the players selected and the invitations they are guaranteed. It is important to know that players were considered for all Jamborees. If you were not selected, keep working on your skill set and athleticism. Do not be discouraged. We want to do what is best for you and help you be successful on the softball field.
The Rosetta Canyon Jamboree and Colorado Jamboree invitations will be sent February 19th. All invitations are sent via email to the address provided in registration, unless otherwise requested. Please add info@ondecksoftball.net to your contacts to ensure you get the invitation.

Please remember that the ODM numbers, while growing increasingly important, are only a snapshot of a player’s evaluation and potential. They are also just a portion of the Tryout selection process, for more information read Your Tryout & ODM Numbers. Use these numbers as a tool and work at developing your athleticism, but constantly work on improving and refining your softball skill set – both offensively and defensively.
These numbers have also been posted to your profile. An Allister Index is not given with Tryout ODM numbers.
Player evaluations are available for purchase for the next week ($45/player). Evaluations take 10 business days to be written, formatted and posted from the date of purchase. Evaluations are posted to the player's profile, but only viewable by the player when logged in.
