As we state constantly to college coaches and repeat in our written work . . . “NorCal is without question a recruiting hotspot from a national perspective and is certainly under-recruited.” The list of NorCal stars currently playing at the collegiate level is amazing. Maddie Moore (Clemson). Megan Grant (UCLA). Taryn Kern (Stanford). Olivia Dinardo (Arizona). Dakota Kennedy (Arizona). Jessica Oakland (Minnesota). And the list goes on and on. So I will say again to any coach reading this wrap-up. Get to NorCal and check out the high level players who play the game throughout the region. There is no question that any college coach at any level of play can find several prospective athletes each and every year in NorCal.
So it was no wonder that we were excited to get to our annual Sacramento Tryout at Herron Landing Park. And the participants did not disappoint.
As is most often the case, I will not be able to list every player who caught our eye. But there are several notable ones. First, the 2030 twins, Taylor and Kennedy Lugowski, are on track to being high level players in the years to come. They have the skill set and athleticism coaches look for in players. 2029 SS Emma Kinney has the swing mechanics and defensive skills that are beyond her years. 2027 corner infielder Miyani Marshall is a physical player who will hit in the middle of her line-up and handle herself well defensively. 2027 2B Emma Guzman only needs to get bigger and stronger. Once she does, she will certainly blossom since her skills are advanced.
And finally, I will mention three LTG players who shined – Ellison Schroeder (2025 P); Alissa Snipes (2025 P/MI); and Cameron Lincoln (2026 OF/P). All three are really good players who will play at a solid D1 level. LTG is only one of a host of NorCal orgs who take multi-sport athletes and refine their skill sets and athleticism. I am not going to even attempt to name all the high level orgs in the region since i invariably will leave out someone. But the talent can only be as good as the teachers. And the teaching in NorCal is as good as it gets. So we expect the talent level to remain high. It will be fun to watch and fun to be a part of as we move forward in the years to come.
We want to thank all the players and parents who joined us for this tryout. Please keep us updated on your tournament and game schedules and email them to info@ondecksoftball.net

Please remember that the ODM numbers, while growing increasingly important, are only a snapshot of a player’s evaluation and potential. They are also just a portion of the Tryout selection process, for more information read Your Tryout & ODM Numbers. Use these numbers as a tool and work at developing your athleticism, but constantly work on improving and refining your softball skill set – both offensively and defensively.
These numbers have also been posted to your profile. An Allister Index is not given with Tryout ODM numbers. If you have questions about the ODM Numbers email KJ at kj@odmtesting.com
